Default LG 6190 - Connecting to BitPim

Getting Started:

Purchase an LG 6190 USB data cable from The Phone Mall.

1. Download and install drivers. Get LG 6190 USB drivers here

2. When installing the drivers hit NO for Windows Update driver search and YES for automatically install. (You may have to click 'Yes' on the Windows XP Logo Testing box that continually pops up for each driver it installs)

3. Download and install BitPim. Get BitPim here

Connecting your phone:

4. Power your phone on. Set your phone Data Connection method to RS-232C and make sure speed is on 115200 bps. Plug the cable into it and plug the cable into your PC.

5. Open up BitPim and go to Edit - click on Settings.

6. Select LG-VX6100 from the Phone Type Drop down Menu. If you are using an earlier version of BitPim you will not see this option. This option is not required.

7. Click on Browse beside COM Port . You should see a list of available COM ports including: Prolific USB-to-Serial. Click and highlight this device. Note that COM port number does not have to be 7.

8. To ensure you are properly connected click View at the top of your screen and check 'Filesystem' A Filesystem tab will appear. Click the + beside it. You should see your phone's directory listing.

9. Press the + on that appeared after you chose to view the filesystem.

You will now see a Directory listing of all your phones files!
The filesystem image shown here is a just an example. Your the names of your directories and files may appear different than shown.
